Color is a visual language that we use to communicate our feelings, personalities and messages that words simply cannot explain. Color wheel is one of the first things we learned in art class when we were young but little did you know, Sir Isaac Newton developed the first diagram for the color wheel in 1666. In addition, the Color Wheel is based on the primary colors, red blue and yellow followed by Secondary and Tertiary colors.
Primary Colors – consists of red, blue, yellow
Secondary Colors– consists of orange, green, violet
Tertiary Colors- consists of a mix of primary and secondary colors

Color Harmony is a combination of visual elements that are pleasing to the eye. In addition, the harmony of colors depends on the over and under stimulation of the eye with the unity and complexity of colors.
IMPORTANCE OF COLOR THEORY IN INTERIOR DESIGN
As we learned the basics of color theory above, we must determine the importance of it in Interior Design. One of the most important aspects to remember is that, the use of color is a visual language that is used to communicate through Interior Design. Moreover, there are instances that perfectly captures what it means to be a visual language.
Firstly, colors brings out several moods they want you to feel.
For instance, warm interiors such red and orange makes you feel hot and cool colors such as blue, green and white makes you feel cool and fresh. In summary, the choice of color for your interiors embodies the mood you want to feel and for your guests to experience.
Secondly, the choice of color affects ours psychology. “Have you ever noticed why fast food restaurants use brilliant and bright colors like orange and red on the walls? It is proved that the red color can increase our pulse and hence promote appetite.” Another example is the color yellow for your interior. Yellow illicit happiness and good feeling that can also be translated through interior design.
Lastly, color is all around us. Since the dawn of time, color have been there to determine night and morning, hot and cold. We must use this gift in our advantage in creating the atmosphere that embodies our personality.
