Recreational Activities to Conquer in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig
“A stronger ASEAN is key to unlocking the potentials of the ASEAN Economic Community.” This is a statement stressed by President Rodrigo Duterte in the ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering in 2018, as the Philippines continue to involve and participate in efforts for sustainable development. Given testament to by the ongoing construction of New Clark City in Tarlac, the nation is in the pursuit of hoping to push economic progress by reimagining the possibilities of ecological, smart living. The pioneers of this thrust, however, include Bonifacio Global City, one of the earliest sustainable estates in the metro.
Known and dubbed by Ayala Land as “The Home of Passionate Minds”, Bonifacio Global City is one of the prime mixed-used estates in the Philippines to date. The metropolitan hub is more popularized to be called BGC, and it hosts many urbanscapes that cater modern contemporary living. These urban, eco-friendly built-ups include exquisite condominiums, recreational parks, and upscale malls. Just last January 2019, Bonifacio Stopover Corporate Center has been awarded with a LEED Gold Certification. This means that the office building is considered to be a leading forerunner in waste optimization and energy performance.
The history of BGC stretches far back to the era of World War II. Named after US President William McKinley, BGC used to be a military base called Fort McKinley. In 1942, however, the Japanese military renamed it to become Sakura Heiei, which translates as cherry blossoms barracks. It was finally renamed to Fort Bonifacio in 1957, paying homage to the Philippine Katipunan hero, Andres Bonifacio. Throughout the years, Bonifacio Global City has notably evolved and developed. Together with other sustainable estates such as Nuvali Evoliving in Laguna and Alviera in Pampanga, Bonifacio Global City flourishes to become a job-friendly, environment-friendly, and people-friendly complex.
As a modern symbol of technology and advancement, BGC is an undeniable powerhouse of the region. Prioritizing the environment while considering everybody’s lifestyle, below are only a few of the vast recreational activities that Bonifacio Global City offers to all city dwellers and visitors, whether Filipino or not.

Bonifacio Global City is also a health and energy sanctuary for the fit-minded. The sizeable spaces around it cater a wide range of activities – skating, dancing, jogging, and even yoga. Track 30th, Terra 28th, and Turf BGC are great examples.
Turf BGC is the first-ever artificial football field in the country, with a spanning dimension of 305 feet by 164 feet. It is a FIFA-standard community field hosting practice games that are open for all football enthusiasts.
Track 30th, on the other hand, is a more flexible and friendly community park located at.. well, 30th Street! Designed with a jogging path and equipped with a meditation garden, Track 30th is the perfect spot to go to when you long to unwind and take your mind off things. It also has installations made of recycled materials across each and every path, 28th Street also hides a gem in the name of Terra 28th. With diverse, recycled installations and child-friendly playgrounds, it can be a hang out place of gathering and meditation for the community in BGC.
