Shōji Screens, in essence, is a type of window used in Japan. As we discussed before, curtains hold a great importance for your home. In our previous blog, we discussed proper curtain placement and other importance that your curtain holds. With this, the next thing we need to talk about is the type of window that is perfect for your home.

There are different types of windows for different needs. In addition, there is a specific window for schools, restaurants, offices, houses and many more. One of which is Shōji Screens, as mentioned beforehand.

In Japan, the use of Shōji Screens arose and in Japanese Architecture. They are used as doors, windows, or room divider. Shōji Screens are made up of transparent paper, stretched to connect together the lattice of wood, creating a frame. Importantly, they are a traditional part of a Japanese home, mansion, temples, or palaces. You can see Shōji Screens adorn their interior and their use is both practical and easy.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WINDOWS AND Shōji SCREENS

In terms of differences, there is only ever two: Shōji Screens are more diverse in use and windows are more diverse in terms of design and foundation. In this case, Shōji Screens are made up of the same materials which only varies in regards to wood; windows, however, comes in all shapes and sizes, although Shōji Screens can be as well, their design is more flexible. Shōji Screens are not only used as windows. As mentioned before, it can be used as a door and a room divider; windows, however, can only be used as windows.

Even with such differences, Shōji Screens are still considered as a window and it caters to your needs and wants as long as it fits your home. Every element you input in your home creates a harmonious interior design that hopefully brings out the message and the comfort you want to spread to your family and guests.
